Evaluation of Selected Factors Influencing Broilers Production Among Smallscale Farmers in Kabatini Ward, Nakuru County
Abstract
This research project was conducted to evaluate the factors influencing broilers production among
small scale farmers in Kabatini ward, Nakuru. This research project aimed at bridging the gap in
the performance of broilers to help local farmers and the general county to understand the
impediments that deprive maximum production and enterprise development of broilers. There has
been no adequate research on broilers production enterprise development as many researchers
work on generality. The study was carried out as a field research by administering questionnaire
to the farmers and interviews including observation of various farmers’ practices. This project was
evaluating the factors such as: how of cost implications, availability of market and literacy levels
influence production of broilers. This research will be helpful to the poultry farmers who have
ventured into the poultry enterprise or are willing to start either in the ward, county, country and
worldwide. There was also data analysis by use of correlation to ascertain relationship between
variables, data presentation in form of frequency tables. The researcher also carried out further
analysis using regression. This was to ascertain the effect of literacy level, market availability, cost
of feeds on the dependent variable (flock size). There was also suggestion for further study,
conclusion and recommendations.
